You will recieve a reply with information about your Serve the City opportunity
You may serve at one of the following serving opportunities per month.

9am to Noon the first Saturdays of August, September and October.

1. Dream Centers of Colorado Springs: Mary's Home Work Day
Dream Centers works to provide health and hope to people who are working to rebuild their dreams. This is done through a free medical clinic for uninsured or underinsured women, a home for homeless single mothers and their children and a home for foster children who “age out” of the system and are left with no place to go. With this serving opportunity, we will be  spending the morning doing work projects in and around Mary's Home in final preparation for new residents.

2. Dream Centers of Colorado Springs: Adopt a Block with Mary's Home
We have committed to serving the neighborhood surrounding Mary's home, a renovated apartment complex for formerly homeless single mothers and their children. With this serving opportunity we will be walking around the neighborhood knocking on doors offering food and prayer to families.

3. Queen Palmer Elementary School
Queen Palmer Elementary is a school in the Knob Hill Area just minutes from downtown. 90% of the children who attend this school come from both single parent families and are in government-assisted breakfast and lunch programs. With this serving opportunity we will be doing physical labor that the school cannot normally afford to do. Jobs may include landscaping, cleaning and painting.

4. Interfaith Hospitality Network
Interfaith Hospitality Network brings the faith community together to help families in homeless situations by offering food and shelter in local faith congregations. During the day, families come to the IHN Day Center to receive case management services, job search resources, and an opportunity to work toward independence, affordable housing, and stability for their children. With this serving opportunity we will be working at the Day Center by cleaning, landscaping, painting and helping to make IHN a clean and dignified place for these families.

5. Palmer High School
Each week we gather to worship in the city's oldest high school.  Join us we serve district 11 by helping with help with projects the school may not be able to do on their own. With this serving opportunity we will be working beautification and work projects inside and outside Palmer.

6. Springs Rescue Mission  (September and October)
Springs Rescue Mission (SRM) has been helping in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region since 1996 to make a true difference in the lives of homeless, poor and struggling families by providing critically needed food, clothing, household supplies and services. With this serving opportunity we will be helping at Springs Rescue Mission by sorting clothing, organizing the warehouse and sprucing up their facilities in order to bless and beautify SRM for staff and clients.

For more information about these opportunities please email us at the mail tab below.
Dream Centers of Colorado Springs

Mentor at Risk Youth
Over 90% of the kids at Queen Palmer Elementary are on government assisted breakfast and lunch programs. The majority come from single families. You can make a difference in the life of a child by mentoring a child at Queen Palmer Elementary. We are committed to being a consistent positive influence in the lives of young children in the Knob Hill community with one simple act – showing up. We will train you and there is no need to be a qualified teacher or a perfect coach. Your presence in the life of a child will make an incredible difference. We are also praying for a few more co-leaders to help with this amazing ministry (a co-director, an info manager, a photo/memory manager, an encouragement manager, and an extensive prayer team).

Contact New Life Kids Hope Director, Sloan Gonzalez using the email link below for information on how you can get involved and how to regsiter for training!
Homeless Outreach - 5DM
With the attitude that our role is to love our neighbor, not fix or convert our neighbor, we meet at McDonald's on Platte and Wahsatch every Sunday night at 6pm, then head to America the Beautiful Park to feed and hang out with homeless folks in our city.

Bring $5 if you want to contribute to the burgers we hand out or simply come and spread the love to some of our most vulnerable friends downtown. We do our best to connect folks with healthy growth paths to wholeness and the One True God through relationship and love during our time together. Email Danny for more info at the link below.

Help Host Families without a home
For this opportunity, we opens up our doors at New Life to familes in Homeless situations. We do this in partnership with IHN along with other churches in Colorado Springs to provide housing and support to families working to become independent. This is an incredible way to spread the love of Jesus and put feet to our faith. To learn more about IHN as an organization visit the website.

We will need your help with:

- cooking a meal or part of a meal
- hosting for an evening or overnight
- helping with set up and tear down

Royal Family Kids Camp
Once a year for one week, we take roughly 70 children in the foster care system, who have a history of abuse or neglect, to the cathedral of the outdoors for a week of positive memories and life changing moments. The stories of how kids are touched by the Father's love expressed through camp aunts and uncles, big campers, and the entire Royal Family is absolutely beautiful. We have finalized our staff this year (2014), but if you want to be involved with clubs and mentors after camp, use the email below to connect with RFK staff.

Royal Family Kids CLub
Once a year for one week we take roughly 70 children in the foster care system who have a history of abuse or neglect to camp. We head to the cathedral of the outdoors for a week of positive memories and life changing moments. This year, our love gets to reach beyond that one week.

For the first time ever we have the opportunity to engage these precious kids year round. Each month we will hold a Royal Famiy Kids Club, a time one Saturday each month to keep loving Royal Family Kids.

For more information, please connect with Holly at the email tab below.

Mentoring Homeless Familes
If you have a desire to help end homelessness one family at a time, consider becoming a part of a team of 5-8 people who mentor one homeless family. This is a great idea for a small group who wants to wrap around a family in a missional way. Through life skills, budgeting, and mentoring we can be hand up to families in homeless situations. Mentor teams meet 1-2 times a month for 5-7 months.

Next Training is October 19th from 9am-1pm. Register for training below or email bwmikulas@newlifechurch.org for more info.
